On Thursday afternoon, Joey Heck, director of the Herrett Center for Arts and Science, gave Times-News chief photographer Drew Nash a quick lesson on how to hunt for fish using only his wits and a homemade harpoon. The early inhabitants of ancient Idaho handcrafted harpoons for a variety of fishing environments, Heck said.
